Boardwalk

The Mead Wildlife Area, through the Friends of the Mead/McMillan Association, Inc. needs your continued support for the “Ephemeral Boardwalk”. Many users requested a connecting link between the existing Audubon Prairie Trail and the Mead bike trail. The Boardwalk is a two mile interpretive trail where visitors can explore a variety of wetland types, view a demonstrative wildlife scrape, and observe habitat transitioning among predominant habitat types (wetlands, grasslands and forest).

This project is completed and usable to guests. The Friends need your continued financial support to maintain this wonderful project. If you are interested in donating to assist with this project, please call 715-457-6771 for additional information.

Below are pictures of the Boardwalk’s construction.

This welcomed addition has enhanced both the recreational and educational activities found here at the Mead!
